Hi, we’re Nick & Niki! Meet our nose-stuck-in-a-book, sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs, creative, loud (the kids, not us), cat-loving family!
Dear Expectant Parent,
We can’t imagine a more difficult decision than the one you find yourself faced with. Our hearts go out to you with so much compassion. Like you, we want your child to go to the right family, even if it’s not ours. Likewise, we know that the right child for us will find his or her way to our home. We feel honored that you are willing to get to know us and consider whether we might be the right fit for your precious baby.
If we are chosen as adoptive parents, we will welcome your baby with open hearts and open arms into our family. He or she will have so many people to love him or her — committed parents, older siblings, and supportive extended family and friends. Our kids keep talking about the baby who will join our family through adoption and they can’t wait. Additionally, we would love for this child to grow up having a relationship with his or her birth family, to whatever degree is mutually desired. The more people to love him or her, the better!
We are willing to give our full commitment to giving this baby everything he or she needs to thrive physically, emotionally, spiritually, and in every way, just as we do with the kids we’ve already been blessed with.
We are inspired by your courage and your selfless desire to do what is best for your baby. You will be in our hearts as you continue on your journey — and if you choose us as adoptive parents for your child, we will be there to love and support you however we can, all along the way.
With love,
Nick and Niki Reeder

our story
We met working at a sandwich shop and started dating a month and a half later. After our several “wrong” relationships of the past, it didn’t take us long to know we finally had it right, and that this was what a relationship should be like. We were married almost a year later, in 2010, and have been happily married since.
We are blessed to have a strong relationship, one where we work every day to build each other up and show consideration to one another, and are quick to apologize and forgive. We love talking to each other about everything, whether it’s deep and important or funny or interesting. We love us some Cup Bop, binge watching Fixer Upper, and dreaming about renovating or building our own home one day.
We have been blessed with 4 beautiful biological children who keep us on our toes and add so much meaning to our lives. After having 4 children, we thought our family was complete (although there was a part of Niki that could never confidently say we were done having kids, but she didn’t know why). But after a series of experiences, we both felt a strong impression that there was another child who needed us, but who would come to us a different way (or “down a different elevator”, as we lovingly refer to adoption on Nick’s side of the family). We quickly knew we wanted to embark on this journey, and we can’t wait to see where (and to whom) it will lead us!
Both sides of our family have been touched and blessed by adoption. We have family members who have placed babies for adoption, some who have adopted children, and obviously those who were adopted themselves. We love adoption! And we’re excited to experience it firsthand as adoptive parents.
about nick
Nick is the most loyal, thoughtful, and selfless husband and father. He is constantly serving and taking care of those around him. I love watching him with our kids, whether he’s playing with them, comforting them, taking care of their physical needs, or teaching them some concept (he has such a great way of teaching). He is quiet and reserved until he gets comfortable with new people — it’s not you, it’s him! Nick loves sports and has the most uncanny ability to spout off stats just seconds before the sports announcer does. He also loves to read and usually has several books going at once. Nick can often be found playing the piano, singing along to music while cooking dinner (he loves to cook and is pretty darn good at it), or listening to a podcast. His most aggravating habit is walking off with kitchen towels and then putting them down in random places, making it near impossible to find them when needed! He works as an engineer at Northrop Grumman, and is very committed to providing for his family, but also sacrifices by getting to work early so he can get off early enough to spend time with his family every day.
about niki
Niki is the most loving, caring and compassionate person I know. She is a wonderful mother to our children, and is always looking for new ways to teach and nurture them. Early on she felt the need to homeschool our kids and is constantly learning new ways to accomplish that. She enjoys reading and writing and has a great love for music, especially singing. She sings regularly with our church choir, a small group of ladies, and with family. You can also find her at the piano practicing Dancing on the Light. Niki loves home décor. If we ever go to a store with home décor (especially Hobby Lobby) I’ll often find her missing as she’s been distracted by something that has caught her eye. I’m looking into getting blinders to put on her for next time. She also enjoys DIY home décor projects. Niki’s biggest passion is motherhood and she has a great desire to not only be the best mother she can be, but to also be the mom each of our kids needs individually.
our family
As a family, we enjoy reading books aloud, cooking with our helpers, creating art, singing at the top of our lungs, going on walks and hikes, vacationing to places like Bear Lake and Moab, family prayer and worship, dinner-time chaos togetherness, family movie nights, bedtime snuggles, and our nightly “happy family ritual.”
Meet our kids!
Chloe (11) is a talented artist who has been impressing people with her drawings since age 3. She loves being with people and going places and always wants to know what fun thing she has to look forward to. But most often, you will find her with her nose in a book.
Will (8) loves music and plays the piano by ear. He even figures out how to play a song in multiple keys! He can also tell you more about dinosaurs than you realized there was to know, and our pet kitties are his favorite thing in the world (besides Mom).
Luke (5) loves to build things and has a very creative and imaginative mind. His knowledge about dinosaurs rivals that of his brother, and he has always had a love for wild and exotic animals. All 3 of the older kids recently started Martial Arts classes and are loving them.
Millie (3) adores babies, and she loves to help and be like Mommy. She will make such a great big sister. She has the funniest, cutest personality and always keeps us laughing. She is quite determined and persistent, but also fun-loving and happy.
Somehow, even though we are both on the more quiet and calm side, our kids all live life out loud! They are full of energy, zest, and intensity. We joke that we don’t know where they came from, but in all seriousness, we have learned that family isn’t determined by similarity or even biology. We look forward to welcoming another child (similar or not) to our loud, creativity-infused, musical, book-filled home.
Our Pets
Our family would not be complete without our well-loved kitties. We thoroughly enjoyed watching our mama cats raise kittens last spring/summer (but trying to re-home the kittens, on the other hand, was not as fun). We have learned that we are definitely a cat family (we don’t dislike dogs, but we like them best when they are owned by other people!).
Extended family
We both grew up in Davis county, Utah, and all of our siblings and parents live within an hour of us now. We try to see them all at least once a month and love getting together with them. We usually go on at least one family vacation with Nick’s parents and siblings every year. Nick is the second of four kids, and Niki is the second of five. Our family members truly are some of our best friends, and we are so grateful for their support. We realize not everyone is fortunate enough to have close family relationships, and we count ourselves very blessed. We are grateful to know that the baby we adopt will be loved by so many people. We would love to expand our circle of extended family to include our adopted baby’s birth family as well, to whatever degree is mutually desired.
our home
We own a cute little home in a cute little town in northern Utah. We have 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a nice fenced backyard where the kids love to play, and we’re in a good neighborhood with other kids close by. Especially after living in a more crowded and busy city for a few years, we have loved the smaller city we’re in now. It has kind of a small town feel, but is still plenty close enough to everything we want and need. We were delighted to land in this town that we refer to as “Utah’s best kept secret”. We think it’s a lovely place to raise a family.
our beliefs and lifestyle
We are faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and our faith is very important to us. Rather than simply following along with a cultural tradition, we strive every day to truly become like Jesus Christ and live His teachings. He is the center of our lives and our home. To learn more about our beliefs, this is a good place to start.
We are a homeschooling family! We have homeschooled since the beginning with our oldest (which was not our original plan, but something we felt led to), and we have never looked back. We love being able to tailor our children’s education to their individual needs and the needs and values of our family. And we love having front row seats to witness their learning in action! It’s such a rewarding experience!
That’s us in a nutshell! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little bit!
